Deveraux is currently a Doctoral Student in the Public Policy program. He received his Master’s degree in Applied Sociology and Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at UMBC. Growing up in inner city Washington DC and Prince Georges County, he discovered the value of service and education. Deveraux found purpose in supporting his community by helping families and youth in need through initiatives like feeding the homeless and backpack lunch programs for kids. In his journey to understand the scope of the problems his community faced, he sought to connect research with service work. This led towards him pursuing his passion through the study of Sociology and Public Policy.
